The Research Experience: Planning, Conducting and Reporting Research by Ann Devlin gives students a complete and applied resource to guide them through the research process. Starting from the idea that one of the major hurdles in conducting sound research is avoiding biases, the book begins with an examination of biases and faulty assumptions, which is reiterated throughout the book. The most common types of research are emphasized, including correlational, quasi-experimental, and experimental, with additional sections on between and within subjects, pre-post, cross-sectional, and longitudinal designs, and a separate chapter on qualitative research.
