The Bookshop has implemented the following sustainable initiatives:
Commitment to financial sustainability
- cost-recovery for all operations
- working closely with University procurement and using Queensland government procurement guidelines
- priotising high quality over low cost procurement to save money and time, and reduce waste
Commitment to reconciliation
The Bookshop proudly supports CQUniversity Australia's commitment to reconciliation. We have an ongoing product series featuring artwork commisioned from Chaboo Designs, and work with key stakeholders to provide products that are inclusive and meaningful to reconciliation.

Innovative Products
We source and retail a range of socially innovative and sustainable products.
Waste and energy reduction strategies:
- eBooks integration where available for courses
- phase out or deletion of paper-based processes
- replacement of physical gift vouchers with online student credit
- replacement of physical statement letters with emails
- reduction in power usage (less printing, LED lighting)
In-store collection point for recycling:
- e-waste computing components e.g. mice, keyboards, PCs, monitors up to 22kg (freight surcharge applies)
- printer toner cartridges (free)
- mobile phones (free)
- coffee pods (free)
- hair care products (free)
- dental hygiene products (free)
- shaving razors (free)
Use of ethical suppliers
We endeavour to use ethical suppliers for our products. You can read more about our suppliers in the Sustainability section on each product page. Where possible, we source suppliers that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
