Advantages

Weight - Printed textbooks can be heavy, and you can access a whole library of eTextbooks on one device.
Up-front cost. Many (not all) eTextbooks are cheaper than the Printed Textbooks. Great for tight budgets.
Searchable - You can't keyword search a Printed Textbook (well, not easily!).
Immediate - Access your eTextbook immediately after purchase.

Limitations

Resale - You won't be able to sell your eTextbooks secondhand, or give them to someone else.
Time Limts - Although there is perpetual access for downloaded titles, online access for each title is limited to 12 months.
Comfort - Weight aside, your eyes may be happier reading a printed title than a screen.
Printed Textbooks still work after your batteries die (unless the batteries are for a reading light!)

Our Textbook Search allows you to locate both Print and eTextbooks. Just type in your subject...

Use the "Check for eBook" link beside each textbook to search the CQUniversity eTextbooks site for your eBook.

The CQUniversity eTextbooks site will open in a separate tab with details if a matching eTextbook is found.

No results found

If No results are found, there is no matching eTextbook for your course at this time. Use our Support service (bottom of page) if you want us to ask the publisher to add their title to this service.

Purchasing an eTextbook

eTextbooks purchased through the CQUniversity eTextbooks store may be accessed:

For One Year through Bookshelf Online (using a browser, see 'Reading your eBooks' below).
With a perpetual download access through the Bookshelf App on a supported device (limitations apply, see 'Reading your eBooks' below)

Renting an eTextbook

Some titles may allow you to rent the eTextbook for a fixed period (e.g. 180 days). After the specified period, the product will no longer be available for use.

VitalSource Account required

During the ordering process for eTextbooks, you will need to create a Vitalsource account. You will use this account to access your eTextbooks.

Don't forget...

After you finish ordering, ensure you return to the CQUni Bookshop browser tab to order the rest of your print and eTextbooks, along with Coursewear, stationery and other requirements.

You can activate and deactive devices to keep within the set limits through Bookshelf Online.

Copying and Printing

Copy and Print restrictions vary between publishers. Use Bookshelf to Copy and Print where permitted.

eTextbook Return Policy

You have 15 calendar days to return an item from the date of purchase, as long as:

you have not viewed or printed more than 20% of the eTextbook
you have not used any access codes for online resources
you have not previously returned the same eTextbook
you have not returning an eTextbook from one of the publishers in the Return Policy Exceptions

You can only return items purchased directly from the CQUniversity eTexbooks store. Each eTextbook item page has full information on returns. You can also access the full VitalSource Return Policy.
