Artist Casey Coolwell says:
"The Indigenous design for CQU was designed by CHABOO Designs, which consisted of myself and my sister (Kyra Mancktelow) working together to create something special and unique to CQU.
Our mother is of Aboriginal and South Sea Island descent, with links to Blackall, Eulo and Vanuatu. A lot of our mother's side of the the family reside in Rockhampton & Emu Park. Both of our fathers are of Aboriginal descent from Stradbroke Island.
Family is very important to us, they give us the strength and ambition to accomplish anything. Our backbone is supported by our Mother; who has taught us respect and patience, our Grandmother; strength and determination and our Aunty; love and kindness.
Seeing the emotional expressions from people, when they see the work we have created for them, remind us that this is what we want to do."
