The Fitzroy River Turtle (Rheodytes leukops) is unique to Central Queensland. It was discovered in 1980 and is vulnerable due to factors including loss of habitat, poor water quality and destruction or predation of its nests.

This book was produced as part of Fitzroy Basin Association's community engagement efforts - to share a love and appreciation for the diversity and beauty of the Fitzroy Basin.
